Connor and Sarah are a matched pair. Each has a past full of bad memories and wrongful treatment by people in authority.
Although their first marriage in a first nations village was forced as was the consummation that night, they don't regret it happened, just how it happened. This book follows the pattern of the other books in the series. The long problem filled trek to the fort, the Wentworth nightmares at the fort including flogging, and the windy road of difficulties to get to the family homestead and the Happy Ever After.
The finish of the Rangers was a touching scene, as was the new family Sarah now has. Her new sisters and brothers give her the family she never really had. I liked that both Ian and Connor were there for the end of the Rangers. It was a fitting ending. I enjoyed the whole series so far and look forward to the next books as they come along.
